Cellovator

my first and unique. it has taken a couple of years to collect these pieces
pieces all to varied and demanding to be performed at a single concert, they make a good illustration of my idea of contemporary classics for cello solo mixed with tiny improvisations

Osaka Vacuum - Emerging view
Slowdown Records, 2011
"Examining the limits of free improvised music is saxophonist's Ray Dickaty's and cellist's Mikołaj Pałosz's main idea. After a few successful duo performances they invited drummer Paweł Szpura to form the trio Osaka Vacuum. After a few rehearsals and gigs the project seemed to work fine - so do the members tell. So they entered the recording studio to play their first album session. It turned out just brilliant.
Totally disordered drum beats, entering this vein plucked sounds of the cello and brief saxophone phrases build the image of the whole. The piece evolves towards ever greater intensity. The drumming becomes more dense until it becomes an irresistible, fierce rush, the saxophone tearing with harsh Brötzmann style with Mikołaj Pałosz competing, ruthlessly sawing his cello. The climax is reached around the 9th minute into the piece, and then it's only worse. Worse only for those who see improvised music as noise and cheat. But modern sound and extatic drive lovers will enjoy the album. "Emerging View" is governed by instant musical making. Osaka Vacuum brings the temperature to the boiling point."
